Narano

The church hill of S. Ippolito is not only an important site from a historic viewpoint, but also provides a great view on the Val d’Adige.

At S. Ippolito, the low mountain range of Tesmio-Prissiano has already been settled in prehistoric times, which is testified by several findings. Today Narano, another component locality of the municipality of Tesimo-Prissiano, can be found in this place. Located at 650 m asl, it counts about 200 inhabitants and is one of the smaller localities.

The S. Ippolito church, dominating a hill only a stone’s throw from Narano, boasts some of the most ancient frescoes of South Tyrol. In addition, the hill on which the chapel rises, is considered one of the most scenic places in the area of Merano and surroundings.
