S. Cristina

Both in summer and winter, S. Cristina offers a wide range of activities in the sun-drenched heart of the Valgardena.

The municipality of S. Cristina, located at 1,428 m asl, is located in the heart of the Valgardena and is delimited by the Gruppo delle Odle in the north and the Gruppo del Sassolungo in the south. About 90% of the 1,900 inhabitants belong to the Ladin language group.

S. Cristina is particularly appreciated by those who love active holidays, seeking relaxation under the open sky. In the valley, there is the lower terminus of the Col Raiser and Monte Pana funiculars, taking you into the magic world of the Odle and Sassolungo mountains. While in summer this area offers ideal terrain for hikers and Alpinists, in winter the famous slopes are reserved for skiers and snowboarders. This is also where the world-famous FIS worldcup ski slope Saslong snakes down into the valley. The Gardena Ronda Express is another attraction in the village, it is the first underground funicular railway of South Tyrol and connects the two large skiing areas Seceda-Col Raiser with Campinoi.

However, there is also much to see for those who love culture: the Castel Gardena, the S. Bolsena church, the largest wood-carved Christmas crib of the world and the spheric - equatorial sundial with a diameter of 2 m at the Monte Pana are sights that you absolutely don’t have to miss out.
