Val Gardena, the Christmas Valley

Ortisei Christmas Village, Selva Mountain Christmas and Santa Cristina Christmas Market - the Christmas Valley in the Dolomites

Christmas Valley (Weihnachtstal) - that's how the Val Gardena is called when the little wooden huts open their doors during Advent. Part of it is the Christmas Village Ortisei with its stalls in magical loden look around the little Church of St. Anthony. The "most beautiful Christmas village in the Alps" offers regional products and gastronomic delights as well as numerous supporting events. In addition, there is the Santa Cristina Christmas Market, a small event with music and mulled wine around Lake Monte Pana, at the foot of Mt. Sassolungo. A place of peace and quiet.

"Mountain Christmas" or "Nadel da Mont" in Selva Gardena completes the Christmas Valley. The Christmas Market with mountain village character features a Christmas cable car in the centre that integrates the magnificent ski slopes of the Val Gardena into the Advent season. A special highlight of the products on offer are, of course, the wooden nativity figures from the valley, which have been handcrafted by local artisans for many decades. Once an occupation during winter when work in the fields was at rest, woodcarving has developed into a globally recognised handicraft.
