Bressanone Christmas Market

The great Cathedral Square of Bressanone is a solemn venue for the Christmas Market of the bishop’s town.

The Bressanone Christmas Market is the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely stroll across the market booths after a day on the ski slopes of Mt. Plose. It is one of the 5 Original Christmas Markets taking place in the South Tyrolean towns of Bolzano, Merano, Bressanone, Vipiteno and Brunico.

The Cathedral Square and of course the Cathedral itself with its stunning 800-year old cloister provide a perfect ambience for this event. With the flavour of sweet Christmas bakery, mulled wine and cinnamon in in the air, and Christmas carols all over, the 30 market booths of the Bressanone Christmas Market casts a spell over its visitors from the end of November to the 6th of January. For children there are a steam carousel, the "Christmas Angel of Bressanone" and the popular craft day. Hungry? What about a sandwich with melted cheese and a mulled wine?

One of the highlights in this period is the nativity scene exhibition in the Diocesan Museum at the Bishop's Palace, which will host also the Light Musical Liora "The preciousness of an instant" in 2022, an event created in collaboration with a team of artists from Bressanone. Well worth seeing!
