The settlement of Sorgente consists of a few farms and houses, but the hotel complex of the same name takes up the majority of the space. It is a real little "village within a village" with a lake, an indoor riding arena, a Gault Millau restaurant, and a spa area that provides regeneration and high-tech health analysis methods. The road through the Val Passiria runs through a tunnel here.
On the edge of the small centre of Sorgente (Quellenhof) stands the Granstein farm. It is one of the still existing Val Passiria Shield Farms. In return for military services to the sovereign, these farmers received special rights and nobility status. The Val Passiria Shield Farm Trail, which also passes Granstein, shows you several of these estates during a two-hour walk. It explains themes such as "The Chestnut Groves", "Cardinal Haller", and "The Val Passiria Court".
The Hirzer valley station is located in the neighbouring Saltusio. In summer, the cable car takes you to the hiking area at the Punta Cervina. People know this area for its pleasant paths, especially between the Punta Cervina Hut, the Talle Hut, and the Mahd Hut, as well as its charming huts. People sometimes call the area the largest alpine rose garden in South Tyrol. At the beginning of summer, the pink of the rusty-leaved alpenrose covers large stretches of the landscape here.
The Monte Cervina is also well-known among paragliders and tandem pilots as a high-quality flying area. You can easily reach the spacious launch site above Klammeben by cable car, followed by a short 15-minute walk. Down in the valley, you can see the Passiria.Merano Golf Club in Prantago. Sorgente has its own 4-hole golf course of the Sorgente Golf School with a PGA seal.
