Punta Cervina

The 2,781 m high Punta Cervina, also known as Hirzer, is the highest peak of the Sarentino Alps

The Punta Cervina is located in the heart of the Sarentino Alps, north of the Picco Ivigna in the beautiful holiday area of Merano and surroundings. From the main peak four ridges lead star-shaped in all directions. The Hirzer Cable Car takes you from Saltusio near Merano up to 1,980 m a.s.l., where the tour to the summit starts - it is considered to be a hike of medium difficulty. From the top you can see the Val Venosta valley, the Monte Muta, Mt. Cima Rosa and Mt. Cigot.

The proper peak is located slightly behind the summit cross and reveals a breathtaking view on the Sarentino Alps and - far away - the mighty Dolomites. Furthermore, Mt. Gran Zebrù, Mt. Ivigna, the Val Passiria valley and the Stubai Alps will make you feel like having the world at your feet. Popular excursion destinations are also the mountain huts at the foot of Mt. Punta Cervina. Among them are the Monte Cervina (1,986 m a.s.l.), the Tallner (2,022 m a.s.l.), the Hinteregg and the Mahd Mountain Huts: The 3-hour hike to the alpine pastures on Mt. Cervina makes you experience them.
