At the foot of the Punta Cervina, the highest peak in the Sarentino Alps, lies a meadow landscape featuring a wonderful hiking area

From Saltusio, the small village at the entrance to the Val Passiria, we take the Punta Cervina Cable Car up to the mountain station. There, at nearly 2,000 metres above sea level, an inn provides the perfect spot for a morning coffee. Feeling refreshed, we follow path no. 8A for a few metres before switching to path no. 40. This trail leads us gently downhill to the Punta Cervina Hut.
This mountain hut serves as the starting point for various lovely hikes and is also a popular destination for mountain bikers. From here, the path continues to the Malga di Talle, or Tallner Alm, at 2,022 metres above sea level. This area is especially beautiful in late June and early July when the alpine roses bloom across the mountain pastures of the Punta Cervina.
We then follow the relatively flat trail no. 2B. This route takes us past Lake Rotmoos to the Hinteregg Hut and Mahd Hut. Finally, we begin our return journey after this delightful tour. We take path no. 4 to reach the last hut, the Gompm Alm at 1,806 metres above sea level. We then use path no. 5B and the European long-distance path E5 to return to the Punta Cervina Hut.
We arrive back at the Hirzerhütte, how it is called in German, after a lovely day and approximately three hours of walking. Incidentally, the Punta Cervina is also accessible from Talle near Scena.
