Circular hike on the Verano plateau to the Leadner Hut and around the Hirschenbichl hill: It is doable all year round

The sunny village of Verano above the Valle dell'Adige valley is the starting point for our late autumn hike, shortly before the official start of winter. From the mountain station of the cable car on the edge of the village, we walk through the centre and then follow trail no. 16 up to the Zum Grünen Baum inn. At the edge of the forest, we continue to the Pichler Wiesen meadows.
We follow the path to the junction at the Bruggn Lacke, a pond that freezes over in the colder months. Here we walk along the road to the Waldbichl inn and then follow trail no. 38 to the Leadner Alm. This popular mountain hut at an altitude of 1,530 metres, located in the middle of the Monzoccolo hiking and recreation area, features a large meadow and a sun terrace.
Passing the Bruggn Lacke pond once again, we walk around the Hirschenbichl hill on trail no. 11. This brings us to the Schützenbrünnlweg trail, which leads us to the Zum Grünen Baum inn and back to Verano along trail no. 16. On this hike, walkers can experience the gentle mountain landscape around Verano and the Monzoccolo, and enjoy the panoramic views of the mountains.
The view stretches from the Dolomites to the Ortles Alps and the main Alpine ridge. With an elevation gain of less than 400 metres, the circular route is not particularly strenuous. A walking time of three hours also means it is not very long, and the paths are generally in good condition.
