Corti (Hofern) is located on the Val Pusteria Sun Road, overlooking the valley basin. This small mountain hamlet is situated around 400 metres above the main village of Chienes at the foot of the Val Pusteria's low mountain range. From the centre, with its hotel and several new buildings, a path leads to the Parish Church of St. Martin, which stands on a small hill surrounded by meadows.
A rewarding autumn hike leads up from Chienes to this small church. A little further up, in the clear mountain air, you will find the Moarhof Mountain Hut. From the Gelenke car park, it is a comfortable walk of just under an hour to the hut, where on fine days you can enjoy the view as far as the Sesto Dolomites and the Braies Dolomites, as well as a few mountain specialities.
For those who wish to hike further, the Marmot Trail leads to the tranquil Lago Verde, the Green Lake at over 2,260 metres above sea level. In winter, the Moarhof Hut is a popular starting point for snowshoeing and ski tours. A sledge run down into the valley is also an option - you can hire toboggans at the hut. To the east of Corti stands Schöneck Castle, restored just a few years ago. It is considered the birthplace of the minnesinger Oswald von Wolkenstein.
The remains of the Pacherhof farmstead, the birthplace of the famous 15th-century painter and sculptor from the Val Pusteria, Michael Pacher, are also thought to be located near Schöneck Castle. One of his frescoes can be found in the castle chapel of Schöneck.
