At the start of the Valle di Racines lies Racines di Fuori, from where the road continues up the valley past Pratone and Alnedo to Racines di Dentro and the hamlet of Flading. This marks the start of an extensive hiking area, where the trails are ideal for snowshoeing and ski touring in winter. The region around the Passo Giovo, which connects the Upper Valle Isarco with the Val Passiria in the Merano area, is a popular destination for motorcyclists, hikers, skiers and families.
The lower village of Racines di Dentro (Innerratschings) is a residential area with its own bus stop. In the neighbouring centre, Colle, you will find the library and the Church of St. Andrew the Apostle. The cable car departs from the other side of the stream. In summer, the mountain station is the starting point for the "MountainAdventure World" trail. In winter, this is where you can access the slopes of the Racines-Giovo Skiing Area, which is considered particularly snow-sure.
Hiking trails also wind through the landscape in the valley. The options range from a short experience on the Racines Barefoot Path along the Racines Valley Trail, which crosses the valley, to a hike up to the Giovo Ridge and the Racines mountain huts with their local delicacies.
Ski tours are popular in winter. Destinations such as the Schlotterjoch, the Saxner, the Punta Altacroce and the Monte Fumaiolo reward the ascent with a wonderful view of the peaks and glaciers of the surrounding Stubai Alps and Sarentino Alps. In addition to the pistes, the ski resort also has a five-kilometre natural toboggan run, which is easily accessible by cable car.
