Spissa

The southernmost hamlet of Rodengo rises on the eastern slope of the vast Rienza Gorge

Historic farmhouses and a scattered settlement in a meadow clearing are characteristic of Spissa (Spisses), one of the seven component localities of Rodengo. The hamlet is in a particularly quiet location. From here, you can hike to the Rodengo Alp, through the Rienza Gorge to Naz, or to Villa. Villa is the main village of Rodengo, where you will find cafés and a castle to visit.

If you look to the other side of the Rienza Gorge, you will see an equally small village: It is Fiumes at Naz-Sciaves, a plateau near Bressanone known for its apple cultivation and related festivals. If you look down into the gorge, on the other hand, you'll see a drop of almost 200 metres.

This gorge is a pristine river landscape with steep rock faces, through which the Rienza carves its path, and which you can explore on various trails. The Rienza bridge near Naz and the Rundl bridge near Sciaves make it possible to cross the gorge and climb up again on the other side.

It extends as far as Brunico and beyond: Between Brunico and Perca, the Val Pusteria Cycle Path also leads into the Rienza Gorge. There is not much to see in Spissa itself, but all the more in the surroundings: In just a 15-minute drive, you can reach the Zumis hiking car park on the Rodengo Alp. From there, hikes and excursions of varying lengths and difficulties start at any time of year.
