Kantorei - Choir Night
Info
Description
In 1950, at the Muri-Gries Monastery, the then choirmaster of the monastery, Dr. Anton Mayr, founded the Kantorei Leonhard Lechner. His goal was to give new impetus to both sacred and secular choral music in South Tyrol. This year, the Kantorei Leonhard Lechner celebrates its 75th anniversary.
To mark the occasion, a special event titled “Choir Night” will take place on Friday, May 16, 2025—a joint concert featuring all member choirs. In the first part of the evening, starting at 7:00 PM, the Youth Choir of the Kantorei, the Leonhard Lechner Children's Choir of the Bolzano-Gries Music School, and the Leonhard Lechner Chamber Choir will perform.
This will be followed by a refreshment break in the monastery courtyard, to which all visitors are warmly invited.
The second part of the concert, at 9:00 PM, will feature an Evensong, a kind of sung evening prayer, with performances by the St. Augustine Parish Choir and the Schola Gregoriana Griesensis. Toward the end of the evening, all choirs of the Kantorei Leonhard Lechner will come together for a grand finale—an unforgettable experience as around 100 voices rise in harmony.
