Description

What can philosophy actually do—and where do its seemingly “profound” problems arise? The lecture examines Ludwig Wittgenstein's famous thesis from the Tractatus: “All philosophy is language criticism.” At its core is the idea that many philosophical questions are not resolved through new knowledge, but rather arise from obscurity and misunderstandings about how language works and its limitations. Together, we will discuss what Wittgenstein's approach means for philosophical thinking today – and whether criticism of language is really at the heart of philosophy.

Lecturer: Ph.D. Federica Malfatti
