Aquaprad National Park House

The visitor centre with its permanent exhibition “Amongst The Fish - A Journey Into A Strange World” is dedicated to the element water

Prato allo Stelvio is the main town in the Stelvio National Park region and is home to one of the five South Tyrolean National Park Houses: The aquaprad in the village centre tells visitors about the vital element of water such as the streams, rivers, lakes and moors in the Stelvio National Park and about their inhabitants. The aquariums here are home to 30 native fish species such as sturgeon, pike, brown trout, eel, zander and grayling.

In addition there are European pond turtles and other reptiles and amphibians such as the grass snake, fire salamander and river crayfish. The exhibition "Amongst The Fish - A Journey Into A Strange World" is joined by different special exhibitions and by an adapted programme for school classes. Guided tours complete the offer of the aquaprad National Park House.

But also outside the facility, the offer is interesting: Near Prato allo Stelvio there are the Arena di Prato Nature Trails, which lead you through the wild river landscape at the Rio Solda and the dry meadow of the Arena di Prato, and the Gumperle Animal Path with Ferdinand the wood mouse.
