The permanent exhibition “In Martello, my valley” tells about the life of mountain farmers in the area of the National Park - then and now

The culturamartell visitor centre is located in the Val Martello, a side valley of the Val Venosta valley in the middle of the Stelvio National Park. This National Park House has also chosen a special topic for its permanent exhibition: the mountain farming cultural landscape and the life of the mountain farmers as self supporters and over the centuries. This modern museum of local history is in fact located in a valley that is particularly marked by mountain farming with all its peculiarities.
The area was already used in the most different ways in the Bronze Age, as shown by a bronze full-handled dagger, which was found in the Val Martello valley and is exhibited in the National Park House. Audio and video installations about traditions, customs and beliefs as well as the special exhibition "Larches - alpine Child of Light", dedicated to the larch tree, the second-most ubiquitous conifer found in South Tyrol, complete the offer.
