The Paolina Lift starts in Carezza village in the Val d'Ega, taking you into the area of the legendary Catinaccio. From the mountain station, follow the hiking trails and cross the Vajolon Pass to the start of the via ferrata, which you will reach in about an hour and a half. It is considered relatively easy for experienced climbers and leads over the north ridge of the Roda di Vaèl (Rotwand).
The impressive scenery of the surrounding mountains accompanies you on the entire tour. The difficulty of the Roda di Vaèl Via Ferrata is rated A/B, and the actual climbing time is about an hour and a half. It is well-secured and features several easier climbing sections as well as a well-known crux that descends into a notch. At this point, you have to climb down. A complete via ferrata kit and a helmet are required for this route.
There are two options for the descent: Either you can finish the tour via a partially secured ridge and descend to the Vajolon Pass, or you can descend from the summit via the east ridge and add on the Masarè Via Ferrata (C). The latter option is a particular challenge that extends the mountain experience in the Catinaccio by several exciting hours.
