Cycling to Lake Monticolo

From S. Michele you can also cycle to the little and large lake of Monticolo. This course takes you across the forest.

At the roundabout (Piazza Stazione) in S. Michele, we cycle towards Monticolo, before we turn left into Via Weisshaus, from where we proceed, slightly upwards, towards the forest. Where the vineyards and the fruit orchards border on the forest of Monticolo, the asphalted track ends and we proceed on a wide forested path, leading us to the sports area of Ronco. First left, than right we proceed on the forested trail for about 10 minutes. Orientation and directions are very easy, as the trails are all well-signposted.

At the little lake of Monticolo, the trail ends and an asphalted road takes us to its “big brother”. To those who would like to discover nature we recommend a ride round the lake of Monticolo. Please have regards for the promenaders. If you drive very slow, you can enjoy a great view on the lakes in the forest.
Even if great parts of the trail are not asphalted, this cycling route can be overcome with almost every bicycle. A mountain bike is of course the ideal bike, but not absolutely necessary. The drop is easy to overcome, the forest provides shade. The bicycle is an ideal means to reach the recreation area at the lakeside: no parking problems, no dependence on timetables, easygoing movement in nature.
