A panoramic tour to the marble paths in the Valle di Lasa and further into the area of the Stelvio National Park

This time, we have chosen the special paths in the Val Venosta where the "white gold" is transported: Lasa marble is world-famous. Our starting point is Lasa. From the village centre, we cycle shortly downhill towards the east on the Via Claudia Augusta and then branch off to the right towards the hamlet of Sopramolino, where the road up to the small settlement of Parnez begins.
We cycle along the wooded slope until we reach the farms at around 1,200 metres above sea level. After the last farm, the path curves back towards the forest, and the asphalt is replaced by marble gravel. Soon we reach the car park by the old inclined railway of the marble works.
From here, a gravel road, which was built on the track of the decommissioned marble railway and has no hiking or biking trail markers, leads into the Valle di Lasa. At the so-called "Aufleg" below the "Weisswasserbruch" quarry, where the famous Lasa marble is mined, the road crosses valley trail no. 5. This trail leads us into the inner Lasa Valley. The route climbs noticeably again, with the mountain pasture road rising to almost 1,900 metres above sea level.
After passing the Lasa di Sotto Hut (Untere Laaser Alm), we cycle towards the upper hut and reach a wooden hut at the edge of the forest: This is where the rideable track ends. From here, you can climb a further 150 metres in altitude on foot along a steep path to reach the Lasa di Sopra Hut, or Obere Laaser Alm, in the Stelvio National Park. Located at over 2,000 metres above sea level, it serves traditional food with views of the mighty Croda di Jenne, the marble quarry, and the glacier.
The descent then follows the same route. An alternative route for the return journey begins at the "Aufleg": Instead of riding along the track of the former marble railway, simply stay on trail no. 5, which leads steeply down into the valley. It brings you back to Lasa, without going via Parnez.
