During Advent, Castelrotto entices visitors with its peaceful atmosphere. The small but cosy Christmas market in the historic square of the village attracts visitors with its local products: warm, hand-made wool jackets called "Sarner", soft tights, nativity scene figures and ideas for Christmas presents invite visitors to browse. The St. Nicholas and Krampus appearances are always a highlight for both children and adults. Wind bands and choirs perform Christmas carols.
Foodies will be amazed by the wide range of warm beverages, including mulled wine and alcohol-free punch and by traditional Christmas sweets such as the delicious Christmas Stollen and South Tyrolean Zelten. Or what about the typical Krapfen of Castelrotto? The dough of these sweet treats is made of cream, milk, butter, eggs and flour and they are filled with dried pears, plum jam and cinnamon.
The Mountain Christmas in Castelrotto is held at the Advent weekends. In mid-December you can attend Christmas concerts by the Kastelruther Spatzen**, a local folk group with a decades-long international career at the palazzetto dello sport of Telfen (sports centre of Telfen), where they sign autographs too. The market closes at the end of December and wishes everyone wonderful holidays.
