Malgasott is a hamlet in the municipality of Senale-San Felice, located in the Alta Val di Non, the upper part of the Val di Non valley, exactly between the two main villages. Here you will find yourself south of the Passo delle Palade, surrounded by destinations such as the deep gorges that criss-cross the high plateau and the alpine pastures above the mountain villages.
The settlement of Malgasott consists of a few farms on the gentle slopes of the Nonsberg Group. From here, you can hike to the Passo Palade, which is only a few kilometres away before the road descends to Lana in the Merano area. On the other side lies San Felice, from where the route continues to the next villages, which are already part of the Autonomous Province of Trento.
There, the Lago Smeraldo, the "Emerald Lake", is a popular destination with its gorge. The Monte Luco above Malgasott forms the municipal boundary and is also one of the most beautiful hiking destinations in the Alta Val di Non area. The path to its summit leads from the Passo Palade, via the Luco Mountain Hut and Lake Luco. To the east, the area extends to the wooded foothills of the Mendola Ridge, where you will find Lake Tret at an altitude of 1,600 metres.
It is both a biotope and a swimming lake. Both tours are also appealing in winter and are ideal for a winter hike through the deeply snow-covered landscape of the the Alta Val di Non.
