La Val

Its idyllic location at the foot of the Sasso della Croce Group makes La Val the ideal starting point for hikes in the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park.

> Altitude: 1,353 metres a.s.l.

La Val, also called Wengen in German, lies very idyllically and quietly at the foot of the Armentara Meadows and the summits of the Fanes Group. Here you can still live in harmony with nature. Not for nothing La Val carries the attribute “hiking village”. Plenty of nice walks, such as the route through the forest at the Ju de Rit pass (Ritjoch), but also demanding high alpine tours in the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park are possible.

In winter, sports enthusiasts can look forward to the skiing areas of Plan de Corones, Alta Badia and the famous ski circuit Sellaronda. Alternative winter sports can be experienced directly in La Val: Winter hikes, snowshoe and ski tours or cross-country skiing on the Armentara meadows. Lovers of culture might be interested in visiting the cemetery chapel in the historic centre of La Val (one of the oldest buildings in the valley), the parsonage with its baroque fresco, the formerly baroque high altar of the old church and the ceiling frescoes by Max Gher in the new church.

> Our tip: a hike across the local nature park or a horse trekking tour for horse lovers!
