The main village of Moso in Passiria delights visitors with its Passirio Gorge and a museum in an old bunker
In the furthest part of the Val Passiria, where the Valle di Plan and the Valle di Corvara meet, the small village of Moso (Moos) extends around the Parish Church of the Assumption, the library, the kindergarten and the Moserwirt. A glass tower rises into the sky at the edge of the village: Here, an old Alpine Wall bunker has been converted into the Bunker Mooseum. It shows you archaeological finds and interesting exhibits regarding the history of the Val Passiria within its rock tunnels.
The focus on adventure continues outdoors: The glass tower houses the Infopoint of the Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park, while the building features a climbing wall. Outside, there is an ibex enclosure and the Ibex Trail, a one-kilometre-long themed trail. A few metres away, the Passirio Gorge Trail takes a turn and returns to San Leonardo in Passiria via impressive steel structures.
Nature rules in Moso: The road leads directly from the village up to the Passo del Rombo (Timmelsjoch), the high mountain pass connecting Italy with Austria. Road cyclists love to tackle this route - you cover an impressive 1,707 metres in altitude in over three hours. The various stations of the "Passo del Rombo Experience", a cross-border adventure project between the Austrian Oetztal valley and the Italian Val Passiria, are located along the route.
Furthermore, you can see climbers conquering routes with difficulty levels from 5c to 7b on the climbing wall at the Bunker Mooseum. And above Moso, sure-footed Haflinger horses set off on guided rides into the magnificent surroundings. In winter, the high alpine landscape in the Valle di Plan captivates cross-country skiers, skiers in the Plan Skiing Area, and winter hikers.
