Mazia

The Val di Mazia stretches into the heart of the Ötztal Alps. In this valley, there is the homonymous village.

The centre of the village of Mazia is located at almost 1,600 m asl in the valley of the Saldur river, stretching from Sluderno towards north. Together with the surrounding farmsteads in the valley, it has got some 500 inhabitants. The centre of the village is represented by the S. Florinus of Mazia church. Part of Mazia are also the hamlets of Cortaccia, Glies, Thanei and further farms.

The Val di Mazia stretches up to the Palla Bianca (3,700 m), the upper part is characterised by charming Alpine pastures. The Val Venosta high-altitude trail (Alta Via) circles the lowland at 2,000 m asl, several further hiking routes and Alpine trails stretch in the surroundings and provide hiking destinations in all difficulty levels.
