The mighty Sciliar is surrounded by mixed forests which offer a habitat for a wide variety of animals and plants
Parts of the Sciliar-Catinaccio Nature Park are covered by mixed forests, while the Fiè Pond is situated in the middle of a pine forest. The area of the lake - a popular summer destination - is one hectare, at least half of which has proven to be an especially valuable biotope. Look forward to a unique flora and fauna at the heart of an untouched natural scenery.
The Sciliar-Catinaccio Nature Park is home to such animals as the red crossbill, the willow tit and the golden eagle as well as the Alpine chough and the chamois. Furthermore it boasts a rich number of flowers such as the Crocus and the alpine rose, the Primula and the Armeria, the Campanula morettiana and the Rampion. On the famous flower meadows of the Alpe di Siusi you can also see the Saxifraga, the snowbell and the cottongrass.
