At the entrance of the scenic Ciamin valley at Tires, the “Steger Säge” sawmill is a rare example of a water powered Venetian sawmill. The building was renovated some years ago and the sawmill is ready for use again. Exactly there the visitor centre of the Sciliar-Catinaccio Nature Park is accommodated. Plenty of information about flora and fauna, geology and traditions of handicrafts are shown.
Of course a part of the exhibition is devoted to the old Venetian sawmill. Therefore every Wednesday (during the opening period) a presentation of the sawmill is shown at 11 am, 3 pm and 4.30 pm. Furthermore the living quarters of the master sawyer are accessible.
