wein.kaltern

The foundation stone for wein.kaltern was laid back in 1999 with the "Projektgruppe Weindorf Kaltern" project group in order to better convey the wine culture here at Lake Caldaro. Caldaro, situated at 224 metres above sea level, is an ideal wine-growing area and is located amidst a landscape of vines and nature, at the meeting point of Alpine and Mediterranean influences.

wein.kaltern is visually marked by two boundary stones located at the entrance and exit of the village. Furthermore, there are several projects such as the wein.wegweiser (a pocket map listing the partner establishments of wein.kaltern), the wein.magazin journal which functions as the mouthpiece of the initiative, the wein.weg - a walking path through Caldaro's vine landscape -, the "Kalterersee" crystal glass in collaboration with the Riedel company, and a podcast.

Caldaro also offers numerous events throughout the year, following one another during the most beautiful months on the South Tyrolean Wine Road: the Wine Excursion Day in April, the Caldaro Wine Party and "Caldaro - All in Red" with Kalterersee Charter wines in May, "Caldaro - All in White" with white wines in June, followed after the high summer months by the Caldaro Wine Days in September, and the wine tasting and festival "Wine and Cuisine" in October.

These are entirely dedicated to the high-quality wines along the South Tyrolean Wine Road.
