The widely-spread groups of buildings and farms on the western shores of Lake Caldaro form the village of San Giuseppe al Lago, which is the lowest point of the municipality and a real paradise for those who love water sports. This is where you can not only enjoy a jump into the refreshing waters of swimming pools, but of course also in the lake. You can by the way rent a paddleboat or a pedalo, or try windsurfing. In fact, the Ora, which is the wind coming from Lake Garda, provides great conditions for sailors and windsurfers in summer months.
The church of San Giuseppe al Lago is directly located along the road to Termeno and dates back to the 17th century. Low murals wall in the small cemetery lying near the church. However, also several residences and castles characterise the landscape: Manicor, Ringberg, Greifenburg and Kaltenburg, all of them are nestling in the heart of flourishing vineyards and date back to the 17th century.
Our tip: if the lake freezes in winter, you absolutely have to spend an afternoon doing iceskating on the lake, which is an unforgettable experience both for adults and kids.
