Fixed rope route on Mount Catinaccio d’Antermoia

Crossing the highest peak of the Catinaccio mountain range, Mount Catinaccio d’Antermoia (3,004 metres asl).

We start our tour at the parking space near the Ciamin mountain hut in Bagni di Lavina Bianca and follow trail no. 1, which leads from the visitors’ centre to the Rifugio Bergamo al Principe at 2,165 metres asl and requests a very good physical condition.

After a short rest, we continue our tour on trail no. 3A, which leads us to Passo Principe, from where we reach the beginning of the fixed rope route in a few minutes. We decide to leave our rucksacks and foto camera at the Rifugio Passo Principe to save our forces.
The fixed rope route itself is less challenging than the rest of the tour.

However, pay attention where you put your feet to reduce the danger of rockfalls and use your hands for a better balance! At the end of the fixed rope route we hike on a horizontal mountain ridge (attention!) until we finally reach the peak cross at 3,004 metres asl. After a picnic on the peak we hike the same way back to our starting point.

Please note: The fixed rope route to Mount Catinaccio d’Antermoia is of medium difficulty and requests a very good physical fitness and some mountain experience. Moreover, you should not suffer from vertigo. A climbing equipment and helmet is absolutely required!
