Cycling in the Dolomite world: In September, the Eroica Dolomiti takes participants to the most beautiful places.
Eroica is a cycling movement that wants to show - as the motto says - "the magic of exhaustion and the pleasure of venture" with events for classic and modern bikes all over the world. Eroica cycling events are held on every continent, including California, South Africa, Germany, Switzerland and Spain. And so it is in Italy: One of them is held every year at the beginning of September in the stunning Dolomites in the Upper Val Pusteria. The first edition was held in 2017.
The original route has covered 3,055 metres in altitude and leads from San Candido to wonderful places such as the Prato Piazza and up to Mt. Markinkele, a 2,545 m high peak in the Villgraten Mountains. A total of 118 sweaty km - 55 km on gravel and dirt roads, 63 km on asphalt roads - are demanded from the participants. Two months before, in July, the toughest MTB race in the Dolomites, the South Tyrol Dolomiti Superbike, also takes place in the Upper Val Pusteria.
