Dobbiaco

Dobbiaco is considered the “gate to the Dolomites“ and offers two popular lakes, the Lago di Dobbiaco and the Lago di Landro.

Dobbiaco, considered the “gate to the Dolomites“, stretches from 1,182 m to 3,146 m asl and borders on two nature parks, that is to say the Sesto Dolomites and the Fanes-Sennes-Braies nature park. Dobbiaco Nuova, Dobbiaco Vecchia, Santa Maria and Valle San Silvestro form the municipality of Dobbiaco.

Already the famous composer Gustav Mahler, who used to spent his summer holidays in Dobbiaco from 1908 to 1910, appreciated the beauty of this area. This is also where he had an own composer’s hut where he created several pieces of music. Particularly worth mentioning are two lakes, Lago di Dobbiaco and Lago di Landro, ideal for a walk together with your family.

Dolomiti Balloon Festival, Granfondo Dobbiaco Cortina, International Choir Festival and Dolomiti Superbike, there are numerous events taking place in the municipality, the whole year round.

For a cycling tour we either recommend you the PusterBike cycle lane, or the track of the former railway line from Dobbiaco to Cortina. The Corno di Fana, however, could be a hiking destination for those who love walking. For promenades we recommend you the oldest via crucis of Tirolo, stretching in Dobbiaco.
