The impressive Lake Anterselva, next to the Südtirol Arena Alto Adige, is surrounded by the peaks of the Rieserferner Group
The valley of the deep green Lake Anterselva belongs to the municipality of Rasun Anterselva in the upper part of the Val Pusteria. One of its six hamlets, Nove Case, consists of just a few houses along the Val Pusteria state road. From there, the journey continues to Rasun di Sotto and Rasun di Sopra, two holiday villages situated between the sights of the Val Pusteria and the natural landscape of the Anterselva area.
In Rasun di Sotto, you will find the recreational park with the "Wasserwaldile" Biotope, which combines relaxation with play stations. Past historic residences and the Rasun Vecchio castle ruins, the path leads further into the Valle di Anterselva. It is lined with alpine meadows along the Rio Anterselva and framed by the rugged cliffs of the Rieserferner Group.
Three villages are found here: Anterselva di Sotto with its healing Solomon's Spring, the larger Anterselva di Mezzo right on the cycle path, and Anterselva di Sopra on the shores of Lake Anterselva. The villages are connected to the public bus network - between Lake Anterselva and the Valdaora train station, the by bus line 431 runs every 30 minutes
You can walk around the lake in the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Nature Park on a nature trail: It is situated at a much higher altitude than the nearby Lake Braies. Along the way, pleasant spots invite you to rest - however, swimming is not permitted here. While experienced mountain bikers set off from here on the "Klammlrunde" circuit, mountaineers conquer the Collalto, the "high shiny mountain" and the highest peak in the Rieserferner Group. In winter, the route becomes a ski tour.
The Südtirol Arena Alto Adige Biathlon Centre, which hosts the Biathlon World Championships, is also located right by the lake. In the summer months, the training area is available for roller skiing and high-altitude training. Another special feature is the mountain road from Lake Anterselva over the Passo Stalle into the East Tyrolean Defereggen Valley, which is already in Austria. In winter, it becomes a toboggan run where you can speed down from the top of the pass to the lake.
