Rasun di Sotto

In the “Wasserwaldile” at the entrance to the Anterselva Valley, a refreshing Kneipp tour and a water course for children await you.

The town hall of Rasun Anterselva is located in Rasun di Sotto, which makes the small village at the transition from the Val Pusteria to the Valle di Anterselva the main village of the entire spacious municipality. The houses are situated in the middle of the meadows around the St. John Parish Church. Its history goes back a whole millennium. The mighty peaks of the Vedrette di Ries Group tower in the background. In this ambience, near the biathlon centre on Lake Anterselva, a world-famous athlete grew up: Dorothea Wierer, the three-time world champion in biathlon.

Above Rasun di Sotto (Niederrasen) rises the Castel Rasun Vecchia, so to say Old Rasun Castle, ancestral seat of the Lords of Rasun. It dates from the 16th century and is now a ruin. Also impressive is the Goller Residence, one of the most beautiful examples in South Tyrol of the combination of farmhouse and manor house. Clearly more exciting, however, especially for children, is the Rasun di Sotto Leisure Zone, where the "Wasserwaldile" is located. The biotope with its play stations along the small stream is an idyllic playground in the middle of nature.

On the Val Pusteria Cycle Path and then on the cycle route along the Valle Anterselva Cycle Path, you can experience these beautiful places even without a car. In winter, the valley station of the lifts to the world-famous Plan de Corones Ski Area is only 3 km away in Valdaora. Near the village, the Shooting Range toboggan run and the slightly shorter one at Oberstall invite you to a trip.
