SouSouth Tyrol offers ideal conditions for an exciting toboggan run, even by moonlight
Some of these toboggan runs are located in the skiing areas in South Tyrol and are easily accessible by lift. You can reach others after a hike through the deeply snow-covered landscape of the Dolomites, and then toboggan back down. Moonlight tobogganing is very popular:
On a clear night with a full moon, the run is lit only by the moonlight, promising you a special experience in the South Tyrolean mountains. Many mountain huts are also open in winter.
Tobogganing rules: For your safety and that of others, you should follow a few basic rules.
- Before you start, check if the run is open and what the conditions are like.
- The right equipment includes warm clothing, sturdy shoes, and possibly ski goggles and a head torch (for moonlight tobogganing).
- When walking up, go in single file and on the inside of bends to avoid obstructing tobogganers coming down and to keep yourself safe.
- Familiarise yourself with braking techniques before you set off, test your brakes at the start, and leave the run immediately if you fall.
- Important: Helmets are mandatory for everyone under the age of 18!
