Located in the heart of beautiful meadows and forests, there is the little village of Salonetto, belonging to Meltina.
The small locality of Salonetto has got some 120 inhabitants and is located at 1,146 m asl. From Vilpiano you can also reach the village by a little cable-car. It is by the way an ideal place for hikers, and also for families with kids who love to spend unforgettable holidays in the heart of nature. However, also Nordic walking or mountain biking are popular activities in this village.
The picturesque village of Salonetto is characterised by the S. Valentino church. Built in 1769 in a simple Baroque style, this church had been preceded by a more ancient S. Valentino church, located underneath the village in a forest. Only in 1990 the ruins of this ancient church were layed open and can be visited today. A further sight is the little S. Ulrico church in Gschleier, providing a great view on the surrounding mountains.
