San Michele Appiano

San Michele is considered the centre of the municipality of Appiano

San Michele, located at 411 m asl, is not only the main village of Appiano, but actually also the centre. As actually there is no village called Appiano, in popular language you intend San Michele when you speak about Appiano. Also the hamlets Maderneto, Crocevia and Pigenò make part of San Michele.

Located only a stone's throw from Bolzano, that is to say about 9 km, the area of San Michele is a particularly popular holiday destination. Also the village itself is ideal for making a shopping tour. Every Tuesday you have the opportunity to visit the market taking place in front of the parish church and to make a snatch. Also a walk across the narrow alleys and a cup of Cappuccino on Piazza Municipio are a real must-do.

Particularly interesting events are also offered in San Michele. In summer there are several village festivals, while in winter the highlight is the charming Christmas Market called „Eppaner Winterwald“.
