The Rio Trodena stream flows through a valley rich in history and old watermills: the Valle dei Molini (Mill Valley)

A narrow road leads up from Gleno near Montagna to an altitude of over 800 metres. Here, in the wooded Valle dei Molini, lie the few houses of Molini di Trodena (Mühlen bei Truden), scattered between the Via Molini and Via Christl roads. The unspoilt nature of the Monte Corno Nature Park surrounds the small hamlet, which owes its name to the former watermills along the Rio Trodena.
Most of the valley is a protected nature reserve. In the past, it was of great economic importance: Records of the many mills date back to the 16th century, when they allowed local farmers to grind their own grain. The narrow valley climbs the slope from the Valle dell'Adige - bordered by the Monte Cislòn to the north, and by the Monte Prato del Re and Monte Corno to the south.
The two distinctive peaks and the Prato del Re viewpoint as well as the surrounding nature park are popular hiking destinations, easily reached from this high plateau. Trodena, together with Anterivo, has been awarded the title of "European Hiking Village" - a promise kept by the well-marked trails through the protected landscape. For those who prefer two wheels, the mountain bike tour via Pochi to the Monte Corno passes by the village of Molini and the Corno Hut.
The area of Trodena in the nature park also regularly attracts both sport and recreational climbers. Facing south, the Trodena-Molini climbing garden features over 60 routes ranging from grade 3 to 7a and enjoys an excellent reputation throughout South Tyrol. Thanks to the solid limestone rock, climbing is possible all year round. The wall's angle ranges from gently sloping to vertical - an exciting challenge set against the impressive panorama of the Fiemme Alps.
