Oltretorrente

A bridge leads from Oltretorrente directly into the centre of Ortisei in the Val Gardena valley with its popular shopping street

Only the Rio Gardena stream separates the main village of Ortisei from Oltretorrente on the other bank. A bridge connects the two villages, which means that all the shopping and cultural facilities of Ortisei village can be reached on foot in just a few minutes. Sureghes, as the settlement is called in Ladin (and Überwasser in German), is located right next to Ortisei and is counted as part of the municipality, but like Bulla and Roncadizza it officially belongs to that of Castelrotto.

While in Ortisei village the lifts start on the Seceda and the Rasciesa, here you go up to the other side: In Oltretorrente is the valley station of the Alpe di Siusi Cable Car, one of two lifts that lead directly up to Europe's largest high alpine pasture. The other cable car is located in Siusi allo Sciliar. Both, Alpe di Siusi and Seceda-Rasciesa, are popular hiking areas in summer and famous ski resorts in winter, their ski slopes are connected due to their proximity.

Oltretorrente also has its own sports facilities. The traditional Setil Ice Rink is located in a beautiful forest setting: Already since 1927 there has been a hockey club in Ortisei, when only a few clubs practised this winter sport. The HC Ortisei was one of the first in Italy. In addition, there is the Mar Dolomit adventure and family pool, the ideal place to relax and unwind. In addition to an indoor and outdoor area with an adventure slide, it also has a sauna world.
