One of three wine trails in the Valle Isarco valley - in addition to the Bressanone Vineyard Trail and the Valle Isarco Wine and Apple Trail - leads through the vineyards of Chiusa (Klausen). The medium-difficulty circular hike follows the sunny vineyards of Laitach, or Coste, and provides information along the way about viticulture in the Valle Isarco valley: The Sylvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Kerner and Riesling grape varieties predominate here. Wine hiking is becoming increasingly popular also in South Tyrol: This way you can experience wine culture in a special way, and combine the beautiful nature with the tasting of the local wines.
The 5.5 km long journey along the Laitach Wine Hiking Trail - "Laitacher Weinwanderweg" in German, "Sentiero escursionistico del Vino di Chiusa" in Italian - starts at the swimming pool in Chiusa. First follow the main road along trail no. 3 (signpost "Weinwanderweg") to the 4th bend of the Via Masi road of Leitach. There a field path branches off, leading through the vineyards of Laitach and up to the Hienghof at 715 m a.s.l., a wine tavern and Törggele farm. It offers a magnificent view on the valley. Then the route leads back down into the valley via the wooded Lottergraben and the crossroads to Velturno. By the way: Each year at the end of May, the wines of Chiusa are also celebrated at the "Sabiona" White Wine Festival. Walking time: approx. 2 hours.
