San Pancrazio village

Beautiful excursions to the surrounding hills, such as the Monte San Vigilio or the Falkomai Huts, start from the centre of the municipality

The small centre of the municipality of San Pancrazio consists of a few winding alleys that stretch between the kindergarten, school, nursing home, bank, town hall, pub and the volunteer fire brigade. It is called "Dörfl", San Pancrazio village (St. Pankraz Dorf) and includes the parish church and the small St. Sebastian Chapel right next to it, which commemorates the victims of the plague. Like all villages in the Ultimo Valley, San Pancrazio is also named after its church patron saint.

In the middle of the village there is a building worth stopping at: It is the "Beckenhäusl" (Baker's House), whose core dates back to the 13th century, one of the oldest preserved farmhouses in the Val d'Ultimo valley. Today it is called "Beckenchristlhaus" (Beckenchristl House), named after a Mr. Christl who once sold bread here. The ceiling on the ground floor is still supported by a late Gothic forked column, and a few years ago the venerable building was renovated and secured.

There are some beautiful destinations around San Pancrazio, such as the Falkomai Mountain Huts, which are particularly impressive with their alpine rose blossom. Three mountain huts along the trail are managed and invite you to enjoy a culinary treat in the midst of the Ultimo Mountains. From the neighbouring Pavicolo, on the other hand, a path leads to the Monte San Vigilio above Lana, a small skiing area with beautiful winter hiking trails in the cold months. The Schwemmalm Ski Area is located more into the valley and can be reached in about 15 minutes by car or by bus.
