In the east of the chief village of Fiè di Sotto, there is Fiè di Sopra inhabited by some 500 people.
The little mountain village of Fiè allo Sciliar is located on the road to Umes, towards the pond of Fiè. Situated at 900 m in the heart of meadows and forests, the S. Margareth and Laurentius church represents the centre of the village. Constructed around 1500, it was built on the grounds of an antique Romanesque church.
If you decide to spend your holidays in this place, you can look forward to a tranquil area in the heart of a charming natural landscape in the Dolomites. This area at the foot of the Sciliar and in the Sciliar-Catinaccio nature park is ideal for being explored on foot. Moreover there are also three lakes: the pond of Fiè, the Huber pond and the Gflierer pond. The most famous is undoubtedly the pond of Fiè, which in summer months is ideal for a refreshing jump into its waters. In winter, however, the frozen surface is ground for those who love ice skating.
