Following the Val di Pennes, you first reach the locality of Sonvigo, before you come to Riobianco.
In the heart of the Stubai Alps, in Val di Pénnes, there is the little village of Riobianco. The wide alpine pastures, the forests and the mountain tops, but also the traditions that are steeped in history make Riobianco a special spot of land. Recreation, sports and pleasure are at the centre of attention.
A particularly beautiful view can be enjoyed from the Punta della Sciabola mountain, which can be scaled from the village in about 2.5 hours. For a family hike we recommend you the legend’s trail (Sagenweg) in Sonvigo, located only a stone’s throw from the village. A total of 9 legends are “re-told” in an illustrative manner along this trail, by kids for kids.
And when the valley is snow-capped in winter, snow-shoeing and cross-country skiing become the main outdoor activities in the valley. The cross-country ski trails stretch across the Val di Pennes, past ancient farmsteads, in the heart of a fabulous winter landscape.
Our tip: listen carefully when the inhabitants of the valley speak to each other, as their dialect is a particular one in South Tyrol.
