Castelvetere was Roman settled until the Byzantine period. The picture shows the ruins of the Barbara Chapel, one of the oldest witnesses of Christianity in South Tyrol.

Already in prehistoric times Montagna sulla Strada del Vino was considered a heath resort, offering also the appropriate surroundings with Castello d' Enna and its narrow alleys below. Montagna consists of the hamlets of Pinzano, Doladizza, Gleno and Casignano. These localities are spread on a terrace above the Val d'Adige valley and are easily accessible via the Dolomite Road. By the way, this road is also particularly popular with motor cyclists.

Montagna sulla Strada del Vino has some of the best-located vineyards of South Tyrol: Due to the sunny position of the village, wines such as the Pinot Noir, famous far beyond borders, flourishes best in this area. In Doladizza, however, apple trees line the roads of the village.

Most of the localities belonging to Montagna sulla Strada del Vino are located in the Monte Corno Nature Park. The protected area of Langensee, the Castelvetere ruin (Castelfeder) or Castello d'Enna are popular excursion destinations. By the way, Montagna also offers best conditions for mountain bikers who want to experience the meadows and forests on their two-wheeled vehicle.
