Obereggen is the hiking and skiing area - called Latemar Dolomites - at the foot of the Latemar Group
Above Ega, at an altitude of around 1,550 metres and directly at the foot of the Latemar Group, you will find the houses and accommodation facilities of Obereggen. At its heart is the valley station of the lift facilities, which take you into the mountain world in both summer and winter.
The first lift was opened in the 1960s, marking the beginning of tourism in Obereggen. From this, the present-day hiking area and the Latemar Dolomites Skiing Area developed. In winter, this includes over 40 kilometres of magnificent pistes, which are connected to the Dolomiti Superski carousel and extend into the Val di Fiemme in Trentino. Toboggan runs start at the surrounding alpine huts, such as the one at the Epircher-Laner Hut directly at the slope.
If you prefer walking, winter hiking trails lead to destinations such as the Ganischger Hut and the Zischg Mountain Hut. In summer, you can discover an impressive landscape of spruce and larch forests in the mountain village on the Latemar. Many huts in the area, such as the Mayrl Hut with its sun terrace, are open during the warmer months and can be reached on foot.
You can also reach others, like the Oberholz Mountain Hut - an architecturally interesting building and the starting point for tours in the Latemarium - by chairlift. You can round off your day in the South Tyrolean mountains at the Obereggen Adventure Park at the valley station.
