A hike leads from San Giorgio uphill to Grimaldo, and then continues through fields and meadows to Falzes

If you follow the road from Stegona up to the sunny plateau of Falzes, you will see the turning for Grimaldo (Greinwalden) on the right in the middle of the forest. It is a small hamlet surrounded by dense forests, with a few houses, a guesthouse, and several farms spread across the fields.
A little further along the main road to Falzes is Irenberg, a similarly small village, which is reached by a turning to the left. The best way to explore the area around Falzes is by bike or on foot: The "Stones Tell Their Stories" theme trail passes by Grimaldo and is considered one of the most beautiful hikes in the municipal area. You can join it near Falzes through a gate made of embedded stone columns and then follow it for 16 kilometres through the natural and cultural landscape.
Along the path, you will find dog rose, elder, wild cherry, hazel, and blackthorn, while old dry-stone walls characterise the scenery. Along the way, there are plenty of lovely spots to rest and soak up the sun. Above Grimaldo sits the Monte Sommo, or Sambock, the municipality's local mountain. You can reach this panoramic peak on the edge of the Fundres Mountains from Plata.
Its southern spur, known as "Auf den Platten", is a well-known launch site for paragliders. In winter, it is just a 15-minute drive to the slopes of the Plan de Corones Skiing Area above Riscone and to the other winter sports facilities around Falzes, which include also a toboggan run.
