From Brunico, the road climbs gently, and in just a few minutes, you will reach the main village of the municipality of Perca, a small community on a plateau east of the Brunico basin. The houses, town hall, shops, and school are located in the centre of Perca village (Percha Dorf), which is also home to the late Gothic Parish Church of St. Cassian. At the entrance to the village, a mountain road branches off, taking you to Vila di Sopra and to the Plata Earth Pyramids.
The location of Perca is ideal: You can stay just in the countryside, yet still choose between nature, culture, and town life every day. Teodone, a hamlet of Brunico, can be reached from Perca with a walk through the fields. For a car-free holiday, you can also arrive by train. From the station, you can explore the lower or upper part of the Val Pusteria on the Pusterbike Cycle Path, and then return by train. Most trains carry bicycles outside of peak times - a separate ticket is required.
The cable car to the Plan de Corones Skiing Area is directly connected to the Perca railway station and is intended to promote sustainable transport. The proximity to the Plan de Corones is appealing not only to active holidaymakers, in both summer and winter. Two museums have also opened on the summit in recent years: the MMM Corones, which is part of Reinhold Messner’s mountain museum project, and the LUMEN Museum of Mountain Photography.
In between the mountain bike trails, the hiking paths, and the ski pistes, you will find the AlpiNN panoramic restaurant by Norbert Niederkofler. After stints in London, Zurich, Milan, Munich, New York, and Alta Badia, the acclaimed chef now combines regional cuisine with a cultural concept and a designer ambience at Plan de Corones - a truly distinctive experience.
