Anterselva di Sotto (Antholz Niedertal) is the first village you reach in the Valle di Anterselva. It lies in a wide valley basin, framed by the peaks of the Rieserferner Group. The village is small but has everything needed for a holiday full of nature and fresh summer air. In the middle of the village stands the Gothic Church of St. Walburga, whose core structure dates back to the 15th century.
If you walk past the fire station, you will reach the leisure area on the Rio Anterselva stream. There, families will find a small fishing pond, a playground and a Kneipp facility. This is also where the MTB area with its downhill trails and a pumptrack for children is located. Walkers can follow the biotope path along the Rio Anterselva to the well-known Rasner Möser, a marshland with wooden walkways in the neighbouring village of Rasun di Sopra. Cyclists often choose the cycle path to visit Lake Anterselva. The mountain pastures are also reachable on foot from Anterselva di Sotto.
Above the leisure area you'll find the Hofstatt Hut. It is the destination of a leisurely circular hike, returning via the Walderhöfe farms, a route also suitable for families or for a tour by mountain bike or e-bike. The hike to the 2,687-metre-high Monte Costa is considerably more demanding.
A little outside the village centre lies Solomon's Spring, one of South Tyrol's healing springs, which is now a country hotel. The 8 degrees C spring in the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Nature Park carries radon-containing water, officially recognised as a natural mineral water. It was already in use in the 15th century: The water helps to lower blood pressure and has a calming effect on the central and peripheral nervous system. Thermal baths, as well as bathing and drinking treatments, are still available here today. In winter, Anterselva di Sotto is situated on the valley cross-country ski trail.
