Rasun di Sotto

At the entrance to the Valle di Anterselva, a Kneipp facility and a water trail await you in the ”Wasserwaldile”

The town hall of Rasun Anterselva is located in Rasun di Sotto. This makes the small village at the transition from the Val Pusteria to the Valle di Anterselva the administrative centre of the large municipality. The houses are spread out amidst meadows around the Parish Church of St. John, whose history dates back around a millennium. In the background, the peaks of the Rieserferner Group rise up. This is the home region of Dorothea Wierer, who has won four gold medals at the World Championships and a silver medal at the European Championships in biathlon to date.

Above Rasun di Sotto, the ruins of Rasun Vecchio Castle are perched. It was built back in the 12th century as the ancestral seat of the Lords of Rasun. Also impressive is the Ansitz Goller, one of the finest examples of a residence combining a farmhouse and a manor house in South Tyrol.

More exciting, especially for children, is the leisure area in Rasun di Sotto (Niederrasen, literally: Lower Rasun) with the "Wasserwaldile". This biotope is a nature playground with several stations along a brook. On the Pusterbike Cycle Path and the connecting route along the Rio Anterselva stream, you can explore the area and the entire valley up to Lake Anterselva without a car.

In winter, the valley station of the Plan de Corones Skiing Area is three kilometres away in Valdaora. For tobogganing, there are two of the numerous toboggan runs in the Val Pusteria nearby: the medium-difficulty Shooting Range run and the slightly shorter one at Oberstall.
