San Candido village

San Candido promises varied holidays in the Dolomites.

San Candido is the main place of the homonymous municipality and has been mentioned for the first time in 769. The village is located at 1,175 m a.s.l. and has got about 3,300 inhabitants. No matter if you seek culture, nature, adventure or relaxation, the village at the foot of the Monte Baranci mountain range is worth a visit the whole year round. Thanks to its lively pedestrian zone it is ideal for strolling and shopping. The adventure mountain Baranci is popular with families.

In winter we highly recommend you a day on the slopes of the 3 Zinnen Dolomites ski resort, to which also the slopes of Monte Baranci belong to. Via Versciaco, however, you reach the top of the Monte Elmo skiing area. The adventure pool Acquafun in San Candido is a unique alpine adventure world with a special ambience for the whole family. What you also shouldn't miss is a visit to the Collegiata di San Candido, as well as the Dolomythos museum, providing an insight into the development of the Dolomites.

Lovers of culture will enjoy the events in the Collegiate Church, the Snow Sculpture Festival, the Alta Pusteria International Choir Festival and the OLALA Street Theatre Festival. Especially also the Dolomites Christmas Market attracts people from everywhere. Sports enthusiasts look forward to the FIS Ski Cross World Cup and the Eroica Dolomiti. In summer, however, the surroundings provide numerous possibilities for hiking and cycling. Nature tempts you to the great outdoors and offers stunning and unforgettable experiences, in summer and in winter.
