In April, the “rose village” of Nalles hosts a mountain biking spring classic: the Sunshine Race
The Marlene Südtirol Sunshine Race is a Category HC mountain bike race that transforms Nalles every April amidst the apple blossoms. It serves not only as a competition among top athletes but also as a tough test before the World Cup race. The Sunshine Race belongs to the Austrian racing series Mountainbike Liga Austria (MLA).
The 4.2-kilometre route leads around the village of Nalles and the immediate surroundings, amidst the orchards of the Valle dell'Adige. This explains why apples can be seen everywhere on the posters: The official sponsor is Marlene® with its sweet and juicy apples.
Around 800 athletes from over 20 nations take part, including world champions and reigning Olympic champions in the Elite category. In addition, there are the categories U15, U17, Juniors (UCI Junior Series), and U23. The award ceremonies take place immediately after the races in the start-finish area. A feed and tech zone is also located there.
