Cribs at the Cathedral in San Paolo

Every year during Advent time, the wine village of San Paolo Appiano in the municipality of Appiano turns into an enchanting nativity scene exhibition. From the end of November to the beginning of January the stunning
hand-made nativity scenes surround the Dome. Every day starting from 4 pm the artworks illuminated with warmth invite visitors to a relaxing stroll.

The fairy-tale like silhouette of the village, the impressive Christmas tree in front of the "Cathedral in the Countryside", the majestic parish church of San Paolo, also known as "Cathedral", gives this area a solemn atmosphere.

The event "Cribs at the Cathedral" belongs to the Appiano Avvento Christmas market which also offers a rich entertainment programme. On one particular weekend the small Christmas Market "Artigianato al Duomo" is set up in the Widumshof. Another highlight is the Advent concert of San Paolo in the parish church. On the third and fourth Advent Sundays, the local Nativity Scene Association creates the Living Nativity Scene in the main square of the village. On this occasion a stable is built right in front of the church. Other Christmas events in Appiano are the Christmas in Cornaiano and the Christmas Market in San Michele Appiano.
